    Graydon Carter: Positively Mesmerizing

We're already annoyed by the pseudo-buzz surrounding Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter's new book, What We've Lost, but we're getting sucked into the reviews nonetheless. In sharp contrast to the Times' pimp-slap on Carter comes a review from the Guardian, in which the writer can't seem to get past the sheer presence of Carter long enough to actually inform us of, well, anything. Jossip gives a rundown of the most important bits from the piece so we can learn more about Graydon, The Man:

    · long, girly eyelashes
    · Tintin hair
    · the air of someone not altogether serious
    · propelled by the sail-power in his billowing white shirt
    · a very punctual person usually for lunches
    · a really slow writer
    · brain was worn out, the tips of my fingers were worn out
    · characterises himself as a "very angry young man"
    · [writing the book] got me up again
    · oversees every caption and headline in the magazine
    · I love the word canoe and all that it implies and the history of the canoe and all the rest of it. The canoe is a big part of Canadian culture insists he isn't grand
    · always eats "in the same crummy restaurant" in his neighbourhood in New York
And our favorite: "soft on the outside, hard on the inside." Whoops, that's a note about VF, not Graydon.
