Today in Stupid Patents News: SF firm Balthaser Online Inc. commits an evil (or at least an annoyance) more heinous than its loud, silly site.
The makers of pro:Fx just won a patent that it claims gives it royalty rights over all rich media applications. The CEO plans to wring money out of Flash, Java, Ajax, and makers of PCs, mobile phones...basically everyone making tech. All this despite prior art that could invalidate Balthaser's patent.
By the way, what's with that warp-drive site intro? It looks just like the "flying through a tunnel" splash for another overarching-patent-grabber, Rambus (covered here yesterday).
