The suffix "whore" has been appended to so many of Paris Hilton's various pursuits—fame-, man-, label-, what have you—that it's easy to lose sight of the fact that first and foremost, Hilton is a whore to her dutiful love of her own family. Take for instance her selfless gesture for mom Kathy this Mother's Day: While most of us managed a mere phone call or hastily ordered bouquet, Paris, working completely independently save for a minor contribution by her staff of assistants, personal shoppers and doting boutique personnel, managed to put together a gift bag of Christian Dior products to be delivered to her mom as a special, "I love you $10,000's worth of oversized sunglasses!" surprise. But as TMZ reports, this sweet gesture of filial devotion would be foiled by a heartless, lurking menace:
Paris sent her mom, Kathy, an expensive collection of items from Christian Dior — which included shoes, purses, sunglasses and perfumes — running nearly $10,000. According to reps for Hilton, "A delivery person from Christian Dior delivered the items to the residence, and set the package down on the sidewalk while trying to work the intercom system. At this point, a person came along and grabbed the items."
We could hardly believe it ourselves, until we saw the gutwrenching video of Paris acknowledging the crime as she entered The Ivy for a Mother's Day dinner—what was surely to end up being a sombre celebration, forever tainted by the Dior Gift Bag That Never Was. (Following the video, you may be immediately overcome by the desire to launch yourself out of the nearest window. We encourage you to succumb.) And yet, the Pollyanna in us can't help but feel that the media coverage following this criminal event is a far more valuable gift for Paris' equally spotlight-enamored, ex-reality show star mom than any collection of luxury goods. Now that we think of it, slipping a local homeless man a couple 20s with instructions to "grab the bag with the big C and D on it and run," may have been crazy-like-a-skanky-fox Paris' plan to get the mom who has everything something she truly wanted all along.
