'Conde Nast Portfolio' Secretly Targets Anachronistic Dutch Billionaires

Think that ƒ in the middle of Portfolio is merely a design flourish in the forthcoming mag's logo? Maybe it's just a way to scoot the ascender of the "f" far enough right to nestle the words "Conde Nast" in there? Perhaps. But a reader points us to another explanation:

That fancy ƒ in the logo is actually the symbol for the guilder, a Dutch unit of currency. So CN accidentally did the Dutch equivalent of using "$" for "S." Classy! Then again, maybe it was intentional and they're trying to spook a defensive relaunch of Forbe$.

The only problem with this theory is that the Netherlands have been using the euro since 2002. Which, we suppose, is yet another argument for Conde Nast Quot€.
