India refuses to give its children laptops

American MIT scientist Nicholas Negroponte's project to outfit every child with a $100 laptop ain't gonna cut it for India. The Indian Ministry of Education rejected plans to buy cheap laptops for Indian children.

India's per capita GDP is $3300. Fifty million of its billion people are online. But hey, can't blame Nicholas for not scoping out his intended market. He was too busy finding just the right shade of orange for his little toy.
