'Washington Post': Bros Before Hos, Truth

We'd rather steer clear of anything relating to our nation's capital (the people there are really so not attractive), but late yesterday, our civic-minded sib Wonkette directed our wobbly attention to something very interesting over at the venerable Washington Post. In their Saturday story about Rep. Mark Foley's resignation following allegations of hot IM sessions and emails with an underage male page, the WaPo originally published the following:

House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of some "contact" between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), and that Hastert assured him "we're taking care of it." It was not immediately clear what actions Hastert took.

But Daily Kos noticed that the online version was conveniently changed:

The resignation rocked the Capitol, and especially Foley's GOP colleagues, as lawmakers were rushing to adjourn for at least six weeks. House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate "contact" between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert.

That's sweet! Even journalists gotta look out for their brahs. No one at the WaPo wants to be tippin' a 40 for Hastert, y'know?

Thanks for Covering Hastert's Ass, WaPo! [Wonkette]
