'Village Voice' Hiring Pool Remains Incredibly Diverse Provided You Went To Columbia

Over the transom comes word of a new staff writer at the Voice. What's his pedigree?

I'm happy to announce the hiring of another new staff writer. Felix Gillette will be coming to work at the Voice beginning on Monday, November27. After getting his undergraduate degree from Columbia U. in 1999, Felix went to work as a staff writer for the Washington City Paper. He has also written regularly for Slate, The New York Times, The Texas Monthly and theTexas Observer. For the last year, Felix has been a staff writer for CJR Daily, the website of the Columbia Journalism Review. He's a gifted writer and smart reporter with a passion for New York City and for good stories. I'm thrilled to add him to the Voice staff.
We hear that Voice Media head Michael Lacey will be at the paper's staff meeting today. We're sure that he'll be advocating against anything that "undermines journalism in favor of cronyism. "
