TODO is one daily thing recommended for you, by us.
Since Taco Bell's almost definitely got shit in the meat, and trekking to a real Mexican restaurant is a drag, our fave hipster-Mexican restaurant Bonita is a lifesaver. And when we heard that it would be opening a satellite location in Fort Greene (the original's in Williamsburg, and owned by the Diner/Marlow & Sons folks), we wondered whether our favorite dishes would make the transition to the new neighborhood.
We checked it out the other night. Unlike the original location, which only serves beer and wine, this one's got a full bar. Service was a little spotty, but we're happy to report that our favorite dish—the steak tacos (though we must admit the fish tacos come in a close second for us)—was blissfully unchanged. The meat was tender and not overcooked (though not undercooked either!), and the three small tacos came with the simple adornments of onion, radish, and lime. The perfect meal, really. If only we had ended our evening then.
See, the whole reason we went to Bonita in the first place was we didn't want to drink on an empty stomach, because the last time that happened, we woke up covered in mysterious bruises, including one on the top of our head. Strange, that!
Annnyway. We were going to pace ourselves. Really, we were. But then one thing led to another, and the next thing we knew, those delicious steak tacos were swimming in our toilet bowl, and we were resolving never, ever to drink again. But they were still halfway decent, in an already-been-chewed sort of way, the second time around. And going in the opposite direction.
