Larry Sonsini, once one of the most powerful figures in Silicon Valley, is rumored to be getting the boot from his signature client. Sonsini, the force at Wilson Sonsini, Sandhill Road's default law firm, has been trying to survive involvement in the pretexting scandal at Hewlett-Packard. The Silicon Valley consigliere was a key adviser to the board of the computer maker HP when the company launched a disastrous investigation into boardroom leaks. Bad news, according to the American Lawyer: "Now one of Sonsini's most prized clients, Hewlett-Packard, has re-examined its relationship with him. Sonsini is no longer serving as the lead adviser to Hewlett-Packard's board, and the directors have begun the process of choosing a lawyer to replace him, according to two people familiar with the company."
