TODO is one daily thing recommended for you, by us.
We leave most of the music geekery to our friends at Idolator, but every so often, a new band enters our consciousness and becomes lodged there, like a piece of spinach in our back molar that we find several days later. (Metaphorically speaking, of course! Duh.) Anyway, there's this new band from Los Angeles, they used to be called The Brokedown but apparently some Nazi band had the same name and got all pissed (seriously), so they changed it to the Broken West—which is an okay name for a totally awesome band. Their infectious full-length debut, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On, comes out on Merge on Jan. 23, and it's fun in a New Pornographers kind of poppy way. But don't just take our word for it. Download their first single, "Down in the Valley," and listen for yourself.
