Some of Google's second-class citizens — "hourly workers" who have to account for their movements on a desktop time-tracking system — might be inclined to believe the management guff about all Googlers being created equal. The forthcoming move of departments such as Adsense, will disabuse them of that notion. Google is moving low-status Mountain View employees — who, at Google, include pretty much everybody except the software engineers — to a new campus, nicknamed Googleplex 2. True, departments such as sales and legal have long been in outlying buildings. And the new plex will be plusher than some of the buildings into which Google, doubling in staff each year, has spread. But the satellite offices, on Crittenden Lane, will be even farther from the power cluster in buildings 40, 41, 42 and 43.
