Online Videos To Result In Buying Of Books

Bookvideos.tv, an "Internet book channel" which Simon & Schuster will launch in June, will provide 2-minute clips of "personality-driven" content from bestselling book club faves like Mary Higgins Clark, Zane, and Sandra Brown. You know, because the book club ladies who read those authors spend a lot of time surfing the internets! And the audience-targeting issue isn't the only minor stumbling block: "Some authors are fabulous writers, but they aren't great at presenting their own work either in audio or video," as the president of a book-website company tactfully puts it. But still, it's a good sign that a major publisher is putting some meaningful dollars towards ramping up its online marketing efforts, even if it does only constitute clips of Jodi Picoult sitting in front of a camera and talking about where she gets her ideas from.
