A tipster sent the following capsule summary from the New York Times about Idaho Senator and men's room habitué Larry Craig's potential reconsideration of his plan to resign as evidence of some kind of homophobia at the paper (they used the word "seat," see?). We don't see it ourselves, but this quote from an anonymous Republican operative seems a little more pointed.
"It simply defies reality," said a Senate GOP aide. "You can't make this up even if you are heavily medicated. The American people heard from Larry Craig that he would resign, and using the word 'intent' as a back door doesn't work with them."Eh, we guess if you look long and hard enough you can find the homophobia inside anything or anyone. Maybe everyone should just butt out and let this story play itself to its own natural climax.
