Michael Hebberoy fleeced the Portland Oregon dining scene about a year ago by transforming his underground dining club into a three restaurant mini-empire and then burning it all to the ground, ditching his wife and hightailing it to Mexico. Now he's back in Seattle, where he recently hosted a dinner called One Pot where guests "passed dishes from The Alice B. Toklas Cookbook, guests read aloud from Gertrude Stein's The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas." Dishes, that is, like pot brownies but without the cannabis which really means just brownies or in this case, a total rip-off. [NYT]
