The girl behind the Guest of a Guest nightlife blog interviewed and unveiled: her name is Rachelle Hruska, and she's sorta the platonic protege of longtime nightlife fixture Steve Lewis—she met him her very first day in NYC and calls him Uncle Steve. She's from Omaha! [Goodnight Mr. Lewis]

There is just so much down-to-earth goodness in that smile. Is it all a facade that will soon collapse on an unwitting passerby on the sidewalk of Anywhere, USA? Or is she genuinely the daughter of a toothpaste tube and Barbie?
Point of order. GuestofaGuest is not a "nightlife" blog.
Rather, "Social News, Culture, and Interest Stories Reported from the Big Apple."
Awww, look how cute she is. I hope NY doesn't break her.
@guestofaguest: You really do have a mesmerizing smile, I said platonically.
@In Other News...: She's in a pumpkin patch. It might be the most wholesome photo ever taken of someone who writes about social news, culture, and interest stories reported from the Big Apple.
@Nard38: There's at least one "pumpkin patch" in the Big Apple, and it's on a working farm on Staten Island, Charlie Brown.
@guestofaguest: How did you come up with your blog name?
@In Other News...: Are the pumpkins huge? I assume Fresh Kills has an effect on produce, right? "It's Aggressive Chemotherapy, Charlie Brown."
@Nard38: Fresh Kills is more toward the west/ southwestern shore of SI. This farm is somewhere near the center of the Island, atop a hill. There's a barn, hayrides, tractors etc. It's kinda neat, and weird. The dump - now closed, by the way, and soon to be turned into a public park - can't be seen or smelled at the farm. So go, go young Nard38, be free and pluck some pumpkins, which can be huge, like break-yo-pinky-finger huge.
The story behind the blog name will be revealed tomorrow in the second installment of the interview :)
@In Other News...: Thanks for the info. I usually only go to SI to get abdomen tattoos, but if I'm ever there around All Hallow's Eve, I'll check it out.
@guestofaguest: Oh, thanks, look forward to it.
I clicked the link to see the blog and I noticed that she wrote about "chopin inspired cocktail" or some such nonsense. I wondered how the composer inspired the drinks. Then I realized she meant the vodka. How sad when 'Chopin' is associated with alcohol before music.
@soutine: Blame Sex and the City. For everything.
Dear Rachelle,
Do you know if The Faint are still around? Do you know Warren Buffet? These are serious Omaha questions!
Just another mediocre blog.
But her late relative, Senator Roman Hruska would have approved as he was a fan of mediocrity.
@In Other News...: Yeah to you and Staten Island. For all that they bitch about the guidos, for me it's always been one of the best parts of NYC. I spent some of the best times of my adolescence with my best friend in Oakwood Heights, when it looked like George Bailey's Bedford Falls. Now I suppose it's Pottersville. But I still have a place in my heart for it, and the SIRT.
@guestofaguest: You're being kind of Gawker-y about Gawker in that interview, ya know.
@Nard38: Tell 'em In Other News... sent you. And they'll be like, "What the fuck is up with that ellipsis shit?"
@SarahHeartburn: Yeah, the SIRT is where old NYCT train cars go to die. Or, to just grow old, old, old. I was an Arden Heights man myself. "Bucolic" is how I would describe it. When the sun set over Fresh Kills, the sky was kinda awesome. You could see the stars at night, and hear the crickets too. The traffic getting into Brookyn and Manhattan was a bitch, but it was, like, funny, seeing the same characters over and over again, and hearing them telling each other stories about shopping, hair, fat husbands... it was priceless.
Staten Island was like the State that never was, New Jersey's appendix, Rhode Island's evil twin. In a sense, Staten Island is the embodiment of a polite "fuck you", if that's even possible. And I miss it.
@Greasy Thumb Guzik: I am glad to see mention made of Senator Roman Hruska of Nebraska, who should never be forgotten. As I recall, he was one of the dubious Republican votes on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but his wife supported the legislation, and would call ahead to Nebraska every time he headed there from DC, so that he would be met at the airport by people who urged him to vote in favor of the law.
The last time I was in a damn pumpkin patch the dude next to me had a Bo Gritz T-shirt on. No shit.
Wow. She sure doesn't ... look like a blogger.
@MisterHippity: Well, let me give her a Cleveland steamer and we can change that up in a jif.
@Conbon: Nice to meet you, dear. You are on my blogroll by the by...
Crap that was intended for Guest! Although I'm sure I would enjoy meeting Conbon as well...
@guestofaguest:Nice to meet you, dear. You are on my blogroll by the by...
Is she wearing a shooting vest?
@MisterHippity: What do we look like, exactly? Why, handsome and beautiful, of course! But who defines "handsome" and "beautiful"? you ask. Why, the commenters, of course! Who themselves are handsome or beautiful, or both! Or, neither. But likely not neither.
Ha! I went to college with her. She's actually from Lincoln (if you want to talk details).
@In Other News...: Well, to begin with, she's standing outdoors, in a pumpkin patch no less. And she's doing all this fresh-air breathing and stuff.
And ... um ... oh never mind.
@fileunder: Omaha has such a great music scene it's ridic, especially if you are an emo child, connor obrist fan, or rilo kiley groupie. If you ever make it there, the BEST place to go to mingle with all the bands is "The Goofy Foot" though unlisted, if you want more info I'll get it for you. I have met Buffet, been to Dairy Queen, and browsed Berkshire Hathaway numerous times, he has no idea who I am. I also flew there once on NetJets with my old company for the conference.
@Greasy Thumb Guzik: I think your name is mediocre, would Roman approve of that?
@Catmoe, reveal yourself....do you miss the BlueJay? and have you seen what they've done with the place lately??!
