Animal NY street chronicler Bucky Turco took the bait of our sighting this morning of the elusive British stencil artist Banksy. Bucky traipsed over to Thunder Jacksons in the West Village and captured THE FIRST PICTURES of this new Banksy piece, which have just increased the value of the building 25-fold [UPDATE: Or have they? Gothamist says this work is by Nick Walker, not Banksy. We're investigating. More to come.]. Click through for some larger pics of the three-part work, and then go over to Animal NY to read some more clues that Bucky gleaned about the artist . Journalism in action:

also increasing the relevance of animal ny 25-fold
the "Vandal" use of the Virgin script is pretty cool... amazing how stenciled artwork is so lauded now. I like that it's art for the sake of art but I wonder if anyone will call GrafittiFreeNYC...
According to Gothamist it's Nick Walker not Banksy.

Time to go grab my spray paint and start the newest meme... LOLBanksy.
Invizibul ranestorm!
sure beats House of Holland shirts
Oh, that's greeeat. It looks like a '70s supergraphics installation in an upstate New York high school cafeteria, minus the interest factor.
Not skilled enough to be Banksy. The stencil kind of sucks and there's hardly any detail. On the upside T.J.'s is goin to get a ton of free publicity...and the advertising industry shamelessly exploits for profit yet again!
@Hiphopopotamus: is that an umbrella ur carrying or r u just glad 2 c me
Etching shit into subway window panels, tagging up buildings with, well, "tags", plastering phone booths with stickers - not art.
This stuff - art.
"I know it when I see it."
@Dickdogfood: OMG YOU WENT TO ELMIRA HS TOO???!!!!!!1!
@kikimonkey: either way, this Thunder Jacksons ad has been very informative.
@In Other News...: Ha ha ha NO NO NO I said "upstate New York" only 'cause I figure they musta had even worse '70s supergraphics high school cafeteria installations than the ones I've known on Long Island.
This is definitely Nick Walker - the pictures show Nick Walker's signature!
@In Other News...: upstate ny is a sad place ... it figures that rod serling is from binghamton
@hastings: nothing about the daily specialz tho, sadly
I'm calling absolute bullshit on the Banksy Gawker Stalker sighting a few posts down!
Oh, Gothamist says, do they?
When exactly? After this, perchance?

Puhleeze.
Comment on New NYC Banksy Piece: Confirmed The piece in question isn't Banksy its Nick Walker. He uses the Vandal tag, and has a series of Vandal work
@In Other News...: Corning, here!
@Catty Is Cumbersome: Not that it's relevant to anything you guys posted, but...
Oh, I see.
Apparently, an e-mail from my assistant to Nick Denton is stamped 12:08pm.
And my initial comment here at Gawker is stamped 10:57am.
You guys are really a fucking piece of work.
@chickenjungle:
goddamn it, banksy. get off the goddamn internet!
and i don't care if you're not banksy.
"goddamn it, banksy" is fun to say.
@chickenjungle: abbe, you seem a little high strung sometimes.
@chickenjungle: are you having a woman moment? Deep breaths!
Whatever.
I was there last night, and saw all THREE artists with my very own eyes ("And who's that dude there? Is that... Shepherd Fairy?? Oh shit, maybe!").
So, go ahead and keep on juggling your desperately-wannabee-relevant bullshit alls you want, mutherfukkers.
It won't make you "down." Never has, never will.
@chickenjungle: You tell 'em!
THX1138 everything!
@Hez: You think you're so cool but you fuckers suck and don't know ANYTHING.
