I used to watch this show religously, but I've kinda lost the faith.
I hope they release a CD of all the covers of the song. Some of them were really good, and I'll always love the irony that I learned that song in Hebrew School and laughed at the expression "ticky tacky" even back then.
YAY!!!!!
@EleanorRigby: According to the article, they will be releasing "the third installment" of the soundtrack soon. Wish granted!
@RudyWaltz: I didn't even know about installments one and two!
@EleanorRigby: My faves are Man Man and Billy Bob Thornton.
Conrad won't be back this season, I'm afraid. I loved that character.
I'm obsessed with Mary Louise Parker's wardrobe on the show and would buy that as a collection. Any insider knowledge on labels etc?
I wrote a parody of this tune once for a girl I knew at Microsoft. It didn't work out though.
Little boxes on the hallway, Little boxes full of tickytacky,
Little boxes on the hallway, little boxes all the same.
There's a dev one, and a test one, one for PMs and for HR girls,
And they're all full of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
And the people in the boxes all went to the university
Where they were put in boxes and they all came out the same,
And there's GMs and there's admins, and marketing executives,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
And they all play on the golf course and drink their martinis dry,
And they all have geeky children and the children go to school
And the children go to software camp and then to the university
Where they are put in boxes and they come out all the same.
And the boys work for Microsoft and marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same.
@GinaRomantica: Well, my boyfriend pointed out MLP's Laboutines ("those shoes, with the red on them") as she spread-eagled Matthew Modine's glass table last season. Makes absolutely no sense for her character, but whatevs.
@RudyWaltz: Kinda makes sense. I've only seen seasons one and two, but after her first major sale in season two, she bought a whole bunch of fancy sunglasses and bags and a car. Maybe she splurges now and then. I just like her pretty everyday clothes.
I want MLP's hair.
That song annoys me, though. It's like a perfect storm of smug and twee.
@Helman: Me too!
@Constant Dater: I always thought that was the point, vis-à-vis the show's complicated, sympathetic-yet-critical relationship with the delusions and motivations of MJP's character in general. But I am a sympathetic reader.
@BeRightBack: Who's MJP, Mary Jessica Parker? Idiot.
@Helman: heylia won't be back either! apparently the family is moving to san diego and everyone else is out. meaning 90% of the funny will be gone.
@puritanicalish: Oh, no! Next it will be Kevin Nealon and I will have to consider not watching. (Matthew Modine is out, which I like).
They may as well dig up Malvina Reynolds' corpse and kick it!
thank fucking god. I always had to mute it when it came on or fast forward through the song on OnDemand. I tried to buy into it with all the hip different people singing it, but nope. It just sucked and clawed at my ears and aural sense of aesthetic.
@BowlingAlleyLawyer: "aural sense of aesthetic"?
I dunno. It is Thursday. Wine night.
@valarmorghulis: Me too. They lost me when the gangstas failed to kill her (or try to kill her) when she was sitting all that horse.
Or when Celia dumped the weed in the pool and Nancy was screwed, U-Turn doesn't smoke her ass, he ... gives her an unpaid internship????
@ShoplifterOfTheWorld: uh, didn't and gave
