Washington Post-owned website Slate once set the standard for highbrow internet writing and of course many would say it still does. But how does this positioning square with today's front-page video about a bike lane that only goes for a block? It's like Slate is trying to move in on College Humor territory, or ape Curb Your Enthusiasm. Anyway, at least the self-styled "magazine" put its own signature spin on things: The one-block path isn't just a dumb bike lane, it's "The stupidest bike lane in America." Slate's video report is embedded after the jump.

I hate it when they retool websites like this.
@TotalEclipseOfTheSartre: Couldn't agree more. As Cartman says: "Lame!"
Typo! "Slate once set the standard for highbrow internet writing" should read, "Slate once set the standard for middlebrow internet writing."
Well it is a pretty short bike lane
@MICKEYBLUEFRIES: Yeah, but was it worth devoting a 1.21 min to bitching about it? Keep in mind thats 1.21 min of our lives wasted as well.
@Bloo_Kazoo: Totally dude
I'm not even going to comment about this it's such a waste of my time... Damn!
@MICKEYBLUEFRIES: I wish your screen name wasn't so loud.
@Bloo_Kazoo:
Forget the time.
How much pollution was caused by the chemicals used to make all that tape he used to tape the camcorder to his helmet?
I once did something similar, but all I did was put the camera in an od box wrapped in used bubble wrap, then stuck the box in the basket & rode around!
