Michel and Oliver Gondry created a time-lapse video of a cross-country road trip, from Los Angeles to New York City, for French pop star Laquer. The entire journey is compressed to four minutes. Someone should film the reverse trip: from Manhattan socialite to trashy Hollywood reality star in four short years.

I've driven cross country twice before, once for six weeks, the other time just for a week. It's seriously the best thing ever.
@Richard: Did you take the southern route or stick to the north? Six weeks makes me think you might be Doc Hollywood.
@Richard: No one cares.
That makes me want to get into my car and drive.
too bad that music was so vom
@Richard: as long as you avoid Nebraska
I did a three week one once, again, best thing ever.
@Richard: Truth. I've done the trip twice myself and it's incredible.
@mathnet: TRUTH.
@mathnet: Not so! I drove through Nebraska the second time and it was lovely!
@fiveinchtaint: The first time we just did a big ol' circle around the country. Started in Boston, went North and over, down California, through the Southwest, Texas, to New Orleans. Then back up. It was great!
is it bad that instead of thinking of some amazing literary or cultural reference when I hear "cross country trip", I think Felicity?
perhaps.
That was awesome. Driving across the country is one of the greatest experiences this generation will never have, because it simply costs way too much. No doubt about it - the road trip is pretty much dead, except for the rich.
@SeventiesBush: The affected car and scarf and satchel kept me from finishing the drive.
I am mostly upset by this promise that I will "see more funny videos at CollegeHumor".
did they washed their convertible without putting the top up?
I did this by train last year--I don't even know how to drive--and it was blissful.
The comment eating beast must have just come off a week of low carbs.
One thing, though: did they just leave that convertible, top up, in major urban areas overnight? Crazy!
@Richard: @Colonel Mustard: Agreed - it's a lot of fun. Did you ever get into the book on CD thing? After a certain point, all music sounds horrible. It's also a time when fast food becomes more than a luxury. I need to take another road trip just so I can test out that new spicy Wendy's burger.
This is as old as the DAWN OF MANKIND.
Cool, though.
Being from NYC, I would love to go cross country but I don't drive and I'm a afraid of my car breaking down somewhwere where I'll get raped by a bunch of hillbillies.
BTW, I could tell when he got to NYC because he put The Clubâ„¢ on the steering wheel!
@Richard: Word. I did St. Louis to CA and back; only taking a week off of work. It was great, and exhausting. I know nobody cares, but it was a tight schedule:
Leave St. Louis (Friday night)
Night 1: drove
Night 2: Albuquerque, hotel
Night 3: Grand Canyon, tent
Night 4: Grand Canyon, tent
Night 5: San Clemente, tent
Night 6: San Clemente, tent
Night 7: Las Vegas, hotel
Night 8: drove
Night 9: Vail
Arrive St. Louis
Sleep
Ah, youth...
At the end that Leesam kitchen and bath showroom(on 7th ave between 17th and 19th)is now a Le Pain Quotidien.Mon dieu!
17th and 18th
@fiveinchtaint: Actually, the first time I went with a friend and we karaoked across country. The second time I had all these tapes of old radio broadcasts from the 40s -- detective dramas, comedies, the whole nine yards. It was awesome, but by the time I got to California I was really worried that if I couldn't find Lux handsoap my husband was going to be disappointed by my dirty fingernails.
This is old.
I drove from Denver, CO to Albany, NY in 28 hours. I don't recommend it to anyone.
The only memorable part of the trip was the intensely lit 50 foot high giant cross in Indiana. And it only lives in my memory as a reminder to stay away from middle America.
I forgot how great the gas mileage was on old cars.
@iamtall: Now I'm getting all deep and meaningful about Ben and Noel!
@Sally Tomato: Yeah, two or three years old, at least.
