Because I really thought GG was aimed at older teenagers (so they can aspire to clothes they can't afford, but contemplate illicit swim parties) and embittered wage slaves in their 20s and 30s (er--the same?). This may be the same demographic that watches Skins in the UK (a show with more drugs and better acting, but less frivolity).
