Janice Min will come to regret this: Her Us Weekly has named Lauren Conrad "Celebrity Designer Of The Year" as part of a special section called "Us Hot Hollywood Style Winners." (Click the picture at left for a full-sized image, courtesy Bryanboy.) Wow. Well, that's, uh, bold. Because the critics have not been kind to the Hills star's work. New York called her Lauren Conrad Collection "tragique." When Bryanboy saw the Us spread, Marc Jacobs' favorite gay Filipino fashion blogger barfed. Well, haters, Us wrote that Conrad has "won... a wide array of fans," so there. Their source? Oh, that would be Conrad herself, repeating something someone else told her:
"I was just with a stylist who said she has dressed a couple of celebrities in my pieces," Conrad said.
Examples? None are given, or pictured with the piece.
But, hey, there is a photo caption with this quote:
"She did a great job!" proud pal Audrina Patridge tells Us of Conrad's March runway show.

FYI, Heidiwood is Heidi Monntag's line, not Lauren Conrad's. Funny that.
@LadyChatterley: Ha, especially bad mistake because as The Cut noted at least Lauren has some fashion training. Fixed.
What do these celebs actually do to create the designs that go out with the names on them? I doubt they're down on the loft floor with scissors. Do they draw on cocktail napkins? Sketch on the backs of their rehab release forms?
@Mike_Jahn: Photocopy the Junior's section of the JC Penney catalog, and hand it over to a pattern maker, with instructions to "make it edgy".
i heart bryan boy
It's kind of disheartening -- Lauren C. is famous for NOT being famous enough. Gah -- it's like meta-crappy.
I s'pose US magazine and Miss Conrad are hoping to create a perception of success that creates a reality... or is that a reality show that creates a perception of sucess or... whatever.
@LadyChatterley: nobody's talking about heidiwood at all?
I'm way team LC but her line is basically overpriced copies of stuff from forever 21. Which... I mean it's wearable but it's 80 dollars for a tube top you could get at target. 'nuff said.
also she's looking a little gaunt, no?
@Reggie Cameron:
i love you too darling
