This clever sidewalk art piece, on 9th Street in the East Village, has been removed. But not before Annamarie grabbed a photo (via Nick Gray).

Who did it? This is really cool. Which is excruciatingly rare in guerilla street art.
This is kick ass. Whoever did this is brilliant.
I don't know. Couldn't tell, from the Flickr comments. If anyone knows the answer, post it here, so we can give some credit to the artist, too.
That's great.
@TheHonJudgeSmails: Could it be Space Invader?

Rad!
Someone's got a leaky internet tube.
What is it made of? Little blocks? Blocksy? Very cool.
This would be a good spot for a Duane Reade.
Wow, sidewalk art that doesn't say "Neck Face." That's excellent.
@Nick Denton: Perhaps it's the Second Life version of Banksy?
@Steverino: Agreed, the only Neck Face piece I've ever been fond of was two foot tall bitch tag in East Chinatown that read:
BEAT YOUR WIFE AND KIDS!
Interesting and fun street art?
I feel a little less outraged and exasperated now.
Thank you, person who made this, whoever you are!
@luciluce666: Um, if you can find me photographic evidence of this, I will email you a beer and then die laughing and happy.
Whoever made that is clever and funny.
Whoever took it away has a pole up his ass.
This is really cool!
I hope someone comes up with the artist so he/she can get some proper credit.
I am sure there is interesting street art like this here in Chicago; however, this would mean leaving my apartment to find it.
Pretty. This would have more impact with a starving dog tied to it.
this is awesome - I live in the east village and haven't come across these - anyone know where they are?
@Clare: Richard Quest has been walking awfully funny recently...

Neat! I guess there really are drugs in our drinking water!
This reminds me of that old amazing game show on Nickelodeon where you would play video games and then at the end you got to play inside a video game. I'm not sure how it worked, but I remember desperately wanting to go inside a video game. If anyone remembers the name of that show, I will love you.
@FitnessMadeSimple: OMG NIck Arcade!!!!!!!!!!
Love it. Très Super Mario. Oh, the mid-’80s are so hot right now in guerrilla street art! (See? Anything can become gallery-pretentious!)
@MyCubeHas3Sides: in new york, proper credit = $100 fine. YAY police state!
@Phyllis Nefler: God, i might as well have shouted FIRST. I'm surprised there wasn't a string of 1's on the end of that. But I just get really worked up about old Nick shows.
I hope that somewhere on the Artforum blog people are discussing just how amazing Julia Alison is...
@TheHonJudgeSmails: I just searched, Your Honor, (well half-assed, as I'm a poorly skilled and hung over net creep) and sadly, found nothing.
It looks so new and shiny in that shot it probably hadn't been documented much yet.
It's a damn shame that some low life cock gobbler ripped it because it definitely looks like the S.I. hand and mind at work, and to top it a brilliant evolution of whimsy into more original, less branded imagery.
@IntoAshes: she really does a great job of making her life seem like real life, non?
@What it is: They are scattered all over but there's a lot in SOHO... Mercer, Howard, Wooster by Canal... you have to look up.
@Phyllis Nefler: Yes!!! Amazing show. And as promised, I love you.
@hypocriteoath: Oh. Oops.
Hide, artist person, Hide!

Remember how hi-tech this seemed at the time? Or maybe I was just nine. Sigh.
Water turning square...?
Isn't global warming terrible?
I dunno ... it looks a little pixelated.
That looks so cool! Props to the artist.
I imagine this is related to bent festival, or at least the 8bitpeoples part of it.
you guys should check it out.
Alright, we've been talking about this on gizmodo, what do you think of the guy who tagged his name in the middle of it, in this picture?
[flickr.com]
I think he's a prick, yet other people are defending the taggers action.
