Hey, lazy Reuters hack: there is nothing "top" about the Webbys. Most of the awards—"the Oscars of the Internet" says the wire's Paul Thomasch—are bought by contestants, who are charged application and attendance fees. A few categories are reserved for celebrities who have to be bribed to pick up their statues. But maybe I shouldn't be so dismissive: this scam still generates coverage from wire-service stenographers like you.

So, in theory, I could win "Best First in a Commenter Thread" at the A.V. Club?
Awesome!
Anything that Colbert wins is automatically beyond reproach in my biased-book.
"Wire-service stenographers" is a great line, though.
Ouch. David Bowie's speech for his lifetime achievement Webby:
"So, only got five words.
Shit, that was five
Four right there
Three there
Two"
oh my god the wrath! the palpable wrath! this totally brightened my day, thanks mr. denton!
It's OK, Nick, there's always next year.
