    Life on the big screen

In these are dark times, I find myself fraught with deep questions: Can the X-files be supersized again? Is Mulder's sexy cool over? Why don't I believe? My internal struggle over a TV jump to the big screen is hardly new, but it is perhaps as tired Scully's skeptical tendencies. What about online video spin offs? Well tonight NewTeeVee may be one step closer to having an answer. Their Pier Screenings puts online video makers to the test with real time audience voting and a panel of expert judges. Registration is closed, but given the event is free and outside, I would be surprised if a few spots didn't open up. Dress warmly. It's showtime at the Apollo! After you get your online video fix. Work your way over to the Exploratorium for "Total Solar Eclipse 2008." This overnight viewing party of the solar eclipse live from China features food, music, and caffeine until the early morn to keep your stateside revelry from being eclipsed by fatigue.
