Who, exactly, are the rich suckers who just got bilked out of $50 billion (collectively) by Hedge Fund Hustler extraordinaire Bernie Madoff? Here are the names we know so far:

• New York Mets owner Fred Wilpon.
• GMAC Chairman J. Ezra Merkin.
• Former Philadelphia Eagles owner Norman Braman.
• New York's old money Loeb family.
• Democratic Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey.
• Nine West founder Jerome Fisher, said to have lost $150 million.
• Avram and Carol Goldberg, former owners of the Stop & Shop company.
• Robert Jaffe, Palm Beach philanthropist and "the son-in-law of Carl Shapiro, the founder and former chairman of apparel company Kay Windsor Inc." Carl Shapiro himself is said to have lost $400 million.
• A whole mess of other hedge funds, banks, and financial management firms. For a long list, see here.
• Other randoms: "North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System on Long Island and the Texas-based Julian J. Levitt Foundation are also believed to have lost millions." Fairfield County, Connecticut has blown its pension fund. Yeshiva University was screwed, somehow.
