New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, in Israel playing at being an international statesman when he can't even get the 7 train to run on weekends, heard a rocket and hid in a basement.

Was he scared? No, he was very very brave.

Asked what it felt like to be rushed to a safe room, the mayor replied, "It gives you great comfort to know that the Israelis are doing everything they can to protect their people, but sadly there is no defense against a rocket if it hits you."

Right. A very good point, Mayor Mike.

Also Mike said he felt just as safe wandering around southern Israel—where he was accompanied, obviously, by crack security teams and frankly in very little danger of a rocket actually literally hitting him without warning—as he does walking around New York, where he travels from the Upper East Side to City Hall daily, very occasionally by "subway."
