Anyone know about the purported layoffs at Star? A tipster tells us the second-tier celebrity magazine is firing a "bunch of people."

When Star released Julia Allison from her "get paid to go on television" gig, it was supposedly because she was "an embarrassment." Bonnie Fuller was said axed from the weekly for being ineffective and way too expensive.

This time around, there will be no blaming the fired: The ad depression is clearly hurting once-insulated celebrity media. OK! purportedly isn't paying as much for baby-pic covers; Wenner Media's layoffs did not spare cash cow celebrity mag Us; People surrendered London to the natives. No niche is safe.
