After giving a lengthy description of all the "clues" the city collected in what Bloomberg called "the Case of the Maple Syrup Mist" — maps, wind speeds, air samples, etc. — he said it's the result of processing fenugreek seeds into fragrances. Which is sort of what everyone thought anyway. Sorry to burst your conspiracy theory bubble. The mystery may be over, but the smell isn't going anywhere. "It's just one of the aromas we're going to have to live with in a city like New York," Bloomberg said.
