Where can a terrorist find a car for cash? Craigslist, of course! Nineteen-year-old Peggy Colas sold her Nissan Pathfinder to a "'Middle Eastern' or 'Hispanic' looking man" she met on Craigslist. Turns out, he wanted to blow up Times Square.
Earlier today, CBS reported that the 1993 Nissan Pathfinder SUV that didn't blow up in Times Square—but was supposed to—had been sold on Craigslist for $1,300, paid by the buyer in $100 bills. The buyer then seems to have removed the VIN from the dashboard (though not from the engine and axle), and obtained new license plates from a Connecticut repair shop.
Later that day, Colas posted a message on her Facebook page that read, "I'm soooo happy I got a new car :).
But by late Sunday, she was clearly upset, posting: "OMG! I HAD A CRAZY DAY ... IT'S OFFICIAL. I HAVE BAD LUCK. SMH I HOPE THEY FIND THAT BASTARD."
According to her brother, the buyer "talked very softly, and he said he was just going to drive around and visit friends in New York." Fertilizer-selling friends!
