Acid Attacker: 'Hey Pretty Girl Do You Want to Drink This?'S

Nothing good ever comes of "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" A stranger approached a 28-year-old woman yesterday, said that, and then tossed a cup of acid in her face. This story is stomach-churning.

We should probably just ban the phrase "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" In college, it meant someone is about to give you a roofie. In childhood, it means the scary neighbor you suspect of planting pins in Halloween candy is about to poison you. And now, it means a deeply disturbed individual is about to subject you to excruciating misery for no reason at all.

28-year-old Bethany Storro is currently in serious condition at a hospital in Vancouver, Washington after a strange woman around the age of 30 walked up to her and tossed a cup of acid on her face. When she tried to wipe her face with her shirt, the shirt burned straight through. She was wearing sunglasses, which may have saved her eyesight; her face will take months to heal. Bethany's mother says her daughter is "having a hard time. It's changed her life now and her emotions are all over the place."

"I'm a nice girl and I don't know why this happened," Bethany told a local newspaper.

As if this weren't already the stuff of legendary urban nightmares, the single Bethany had only recently moved to Vancouver "to make a fresh start," according to her pastor. The attacker is still at large. [MSNBC, Columbian, image via Dedyukhin Dmitry/Shutterstock]
