When provoked, nerds may react with the fury of a cave troll. Earlier this week, a Canadian high school student was beaten at the hands of a group of kids he trash-talked in the computer game Warcraft III.
The players allegedly tracked down the student to Hamber, located at 5025 Willow on the west side of Vancouver, and made him kiss their feet before hitting him with batons, breaking his fingers.
Vancouver police Const. Lindsey Houghton confirmed Thursday the attack stemmed from the student taking part in an online role-playing game called Defence of the Ancients, a "custom scenario" for the real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
The only thing more terrible than the beating itself is that every time this kid explains what happened to his fingers, he'll have to say the phrase "Defence of the Ancients, a custom scenario for the real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos." Poor guy!
Some advice for this kid: Just say you were getting a blowjob from a hot chick while driving a muscle car and you accidentally careened off the road. And start playing football—it's way less violent, apparently, than Warcraft III. [via GamesPolitics]
