A new study shows that optimists—with their grating sunshiney perceptions and Pollyanna attitudes—live longer after major surgery. This is just another reason for people to obnoxiously insist that we smile.
The study looked at 3,000 patients who were treated for heart disease, and those optimistic people with an expectation of a full recovery lived longer than their pessimistic counterparts. Next you're going to tell us is that The Secret really works too. Some times the universe makes it so hard to have a bad attitude.
