Bob Woodward's Not Just Some Lazy Facebook Troll, Like You Kids

In your enlightening Wednesday media column: Bob Woodward hates the internet, Newark has a friend in Arianna, magazine editors return to magazines, I Want Media gets purchased, and Lester Holt is irradiated.

  • What the fuck is Bob Woodward saying these days? Well, I mean, lots of things, really. "Mark Felt, who was Deep Throat, didn't have a Facebook account. He wouldn't have had one. The news of Watergate came from human beings who were reluctant to talk. And the information was not on the Internet." The godfather of journalism, there. He can teach us much.
  • Arianna Huffington is now the editorial overseer of Patch.com, the AOL local microjournalism project. Arianna's also close friends with Newark mayor Cory Booker. Patch is starting up a site in Newark—"in partnership" with the mayor. It's the new journalism! In which the only ethical criteria is how closely allied you are with Arianna Huffington.
  • Wasn't but a couple years ago that a bunch of big-name magazine editors were fleeing print in order to join web ventures or start up websites or maybe just hang around being on the Twitter all day. Now, three of those editors are back at magazines! John Koblin talks to them to see why they came back. The consensus: Money.
  • Jimmy Finkelstein, the owner of The Hill, has bought the media news site IWantMedia.com. Supporting aggregation? You monster.
  • Lester Holt and his NBC crew in Japan tested positive for radiation! But don't worry, they'll be okay. But Lester Holt's shoes are a total loss! Noooooooooooo!
