New York Has Its Perfect Tabloid Murder of the Season

It's an awful thing to say about human nature, but plainly true: we're fascinated by crime, the more awful the better. And when those awful crimes happen to beautiful people, well, humanity can't get enough.

Larisa Prikhodko (left), a 28 year-old Brooklyn woman, was knife-murdered in her apartment last weekend—along with her mother (center). The prime suspect: Nikolai Rakossi, Prikhodko's boyfriend and a Russian citizen, who's already hopped one-way flight for Moscow.

Bloody, horrific crime scene? Check.
Photogenic victim? Check.
Photogenic victim's mother? Check.
International manhunt? Check.
And can we blame this all on foreigners? Check.

These things are what make the tabloids go 'round.
