A frequent commenter on the Shumukh al-Islam internet forum has called for American Muslims to "cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever." The lowly Jew they were referring to was that late night nudnik from Indiana, David Letterstein.
Actually it was David Letterman, who is about as cornfed and un-lowly-Jewish as they come. But whatever, in the world of jihadists, you're either with them, or you're a lox-worshiping infidel.
The joke that inspired it? It was from Letterman's opening monologue on the June 8th show:
"So (al Qaeda) picked a successor to Osama bin Laden and his name was Ilyas Kashmiri. Well, guess what, he was blown up by an American drone. It wasn't going to work anyways because they got off to a rocky start with this guy. He botched up the story of Paul Revere."
Yes, quite ironically, the target of that punchline was actually the last person to declare jihad against Letterman, Sarah Palin. (Of course, that was a Wasilla jihad, which went far beyond mere calls for tongue-removal to all-out, rifle-waving pledges of "skinnin' me a brand new Daveskin rug for my foyer.")
