Iran Reportedly Releasing U.S. Hikers From Prison

After sentencing them to eight years just last month, Iranian authorities have supposedly released Americans Joshua Fattal and Shane Bauer from prison today. At least that's what "a U.S. official" told CNN, to which CNN texted back, "pix or GTFO."

There's no pix yet, sorry. But Iran's judiciary says the two men have been freed. Then again, Iran's judiciary also said Fattal and Bauer were spying for the U.S. government, and that seems disputable. It's so hard to believe anyone these days.

Fattal and Bauer were arrested in July 2009 while hiking along the Iran-Iraq border and have been behind Iranian prison bars ever since, until today, or not. After an unnamed source posted their $1 million bail, the two men were supposedly handed over to the Omani envoy. It's not clear when they'll be allowed to leave Iran, but as long as they don't go hiking they should be fine.
