Let us thank the Obama campaign's senior strategist David Axelrod for this sterling metaphor today, regarding Newt Gingrich's anus — something we'll see more of as the primary season lingers on.
"Homespun wisdom," he calls it, because back on the mean streets of Chicagotown, watching elevating monkeys reveal their anuses is about as familiar a pastime as shooting up a crowded plaza with Tommy guns:
I told my colleagues yesterday a bit of homespun wisdom I got from an alderman in Chicago some years ago when one of his colleagues wanted to run for higher office and he was really dubious. He said, ‘just remember the higher a monkey climbs on a pole, the more you can see his butt.' So, you know, the Speaker is very high on the pole right now and we'll see how people like the view.
This is disgusting, Axelrod. If you're going to make jokes about Newt Gingrich's bare ass, at least put it in the context of him taking dumps in one of his many hotel bathrooms.
What's that, readers? Oh! You're welcome.
