PR Dummies: What Do Women Want?

The public relations industry is essentially a grand sleight-of-hand trick in which money is extracted from clients in exchange for building a smokescreen of wordplay around a pile of excrement ("the product"). It's a living. This is PR Dummies. Poking the poo pile, once a week.

Smart business people underpromise and overdeliver. Sometimes—through no fault of their own—PR people are given boring crapola to work with. They're trapped. In these cases, it may not be possible to overdeliver. Just plain delivering is good enough. Then there are those who are given boring crapola to work with, and proceed to overpromise and underdeliver. These are the PR Dummies.

What do women want?

Sigmund Freud brought it up. So did Christina Aguilera (although she was more concerned with "What a girl wants.")

Both the Republican and Democratic parties are struggling with the same questions of equal pay for women and respect for stay-at-home moms.

Now TeamViewer reveals what women really want. It's online meetings. Really.

On April 19, TeamViewer is revealing that it's women who are more likely to embrace meetings technology in the workplace. In a Harris Survey of over 2,500 Americans, women were more likely than men to say:

· They could save money in transportation costs - (78% vs. 71%)
· You don't have to waste time traveling to meetings - (77% vs. 71%)
· Online meetings are less nerve-racking - (37% vs. 26%)
· People are less distracted - (22% vs. 16%)

Women are also much more demanding. When asked which characteristics are most important for an online meetings host to have, women were more likely to say:

· Organization - (81% vs. 68%)
· Fast-paced - (64% vs. 52%)
· Respectfulness - (60% vs. 50%)
· Fair - (57% vs. 51%)
· Decisive - (40% vs. 34%)
· Clever - (17% vs. 12%)

Some women even said they would like an online meetings host to be passionate (15%), attractive (5%) and blunt (6%). Furthermore, all of these statistics are part of a growing trend in which more than three quarters of U.S. adults (77%) say that online meetings are on the rise.
