Queen Latifah: Yep, I'm Still Not Officially Gay

Those who thought Queen Latifah's appearance at Long Beach Gay Pride signaled a move toward coming out will be disappointed. Today, she told Entertainment Weekly that her performance had nothing to do with her still very private sexuality: "That definitely wasn't the case."

And it seems unlikely that Latifah will be openly gay any time soon.

I've never dealt with the question of my personal life in public. It's just not gonna happen.

Barring a same-sex massage scandal, this could very well remain an open secret indefinitely.

Latifah then went on to explain that gay pride shows are just really fun, recalling an early '90s pride show in San Francisco, in which she performed with Tupac. Apparently the audience was clamoring for Tupac to take off his shirt, to no avail. (Why so shy, Tupac? Hologram you was cool with it.)

And, of course, she supports her gay fans.

I know that the most important thing and the only thing I have to give is love. When people are going through hatred and bullying, the biggest thing to fight that is love. So that's all I encouraged my audience to do that night: to share their light and share their love. Period.

Next up, Queen Latifah stars in the Lifetime remake of Steel Magnolias. Openly lesbian or not, it doesn't get much gayer than that.
