When Taco Bell execs learned that residents of Bethel had been fooled by a hoax into believing that the fast-food chain was opening up shop in their remote Alaskan town, they quickly arranged to have 10,000 Doritos Locos Tacos airlifted in from Anchorage, some 350 miles away.

But "Operation Alaska" came with one caveat: Bethel's 6,200 residents would agree to star in a Taco Bell commercial that makes it seem as though getting free Doritos Locos Tacos is the best thing that will ever happen to them in their workaday lives.

Last week, Bethel mayor Hugh Dyment speculated that "Taco Bell Fest" could be the focus of a new Taco Bell marketing campaign, but said he didn't mind because his dog had a good time. "The puppy loved those Dorito-shell things," he told Alaska Dispatch.
