At least one student was injured today during a shooting at Perry Hall High School in Baltimore County, Maryland.
County Police say they have the suspected shooter in custody. Students were escorted to the nearby Perry Hall Shopping Center, where they were met by their parents.
The injured student, whose condition is unknown at this time, was said to have been shot in the back, and was subsequently flown to a local hospital.
There are unconfirmed reports of a second victim.
Today was the first day of school for some 2,300 students at Perry Hall High.
UPDATE: A student told 11 News the suspect threatened to kill someone who was teasing him in the school's cafeteria. He reportedly left the cafeteria and returned a short while later with a shotgun.
UPDATE 2: The shooting victim is a 17-year-old student who was fired upon at random. He is said to be in critical condition. Baltimore County Police Chief James Johnson told reporters the suspect only fired his weapon twice before being subdued by a school resource officer. His identity has not been released.
