As you were reading your paper edition of the Wall Street Journal today, you may have noticed the GIANT ad toward the front of the Marketplace section, in which Billy Graham tells you how to vote in the upcoming election.
Here is the ad transcribed as it appears in the paper:
The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren, and this great nation is crucial. As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.
However, if Billy Graham was looking to influence people he hadn't previously reached, perhaps a full-page ad in a newspaper with an average readership age of 57-year-old men and owned by News Corp. wasn't the right choice. What he should have done was bought a banner ad on Words with Friends.
