Republicans bitter about losing the election? Maybe just a tad.
"Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?" wrote Peter Morrison, treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party, in the latest issue of his newsletter, The Peter Morrison Report. "Let each go her own way."
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Morrison, a Tea Party-affiliated Ron Paul supporter, called for an "amicable divorce" between his state and the rest of the country, particularly the "maggots" who voted for President Obama.
The 33-year-old goes on to attack Asian-Americans and Hispanic for voting on an "ethnic basis," and called Obama "their president."
The Star-Telegram notes that Morrison isn't just some fringe kook with access to a computer — he also happens to be the man "chosen by former State Board of Education Chairman Don McLeroy to help screen Texas public school textbooks."
Reached for comment, Hardin County GOP chairman Kent Batman expressed shock at Morrison's remarks. "I guess I need to start taking a look at his newsletters," Batman said.
