Someone was clearly attempting some sort of political statement by posting signs around Dublin, Ireland, "reminding" residents to celebrate "National Smack a Bum Day" on November 15th.
Except it seems the prank/protest backfired when photos of the signs were taken seriously, and posted on a few popular Twitter accounts without a hint of satire.
The Twitter hashtag #NationalBumSmackingDay soon began trending worldwide, though it's unclear if anyone actually went around smacking random strangers' behinds.
But, as one astute Twitter user pointed out, those who celebrate #NationalBumSmackingDay today will be celebrating #ImNotAtWorkBecause IGotDoneForSexualHarassmentDay tomorrow.
