Chevy Chase Is Leaving Community, Effective Immediately

After three and a half years, Chevy Chase is done at Community. The agreement to part ways was apparently mutual and will take place immediately. Chase's departure won't have much of an impact on the critically-acclaimed show's fourth season - all but two of the season's episodes had already been filmed – but it will likely have a positive impact on the sitcom's morale.

Chase has spent much of the last six months shitting on the show. Two months ago, he ripped it during an interview with the Huffington Post U.K., saying, among other things, that it's boring to watch and, as a sitcom, part of the lowest form of television.

Well, I have to say that one of the things that bothers me about our show is that it is placed in that study room all the time, with the same light, the same colour - that's not interesting to see a lot. It's just joke after joke after joke around that table.
...

The hours are hideous, and it's still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television.

He also took the opportunity to offer incredibly backhanded compliments to his castmates:

I think the reason I have stuck around is because I love these kids, the cast - they are very good. It's not like I am working with the great innovators of all time, but at the same time, they are my friends.

Just a few weeks ago, Chase reportedly said the N-word multiple times during an on-set tirade, and last spring, he left a voicemail for Community creator Dan Harmon, inviting him to "suck his cock" and saying the show has "got bad writing, shit, stinko." He also called Harmon an "alcoholic fat shit."

What an asshole.
