MSNBC Suspends Alec Baldwin Following "Cocksucking Fag" Controversy

Alec Baldwin's MSNBC talk show, which debuted in October, is already being suspended for two weeks following an incident yesterday in which Baldwin was heard to call a paparazzo a "cocksucking fag." Baldwin denies using the word "fag," but he apologized nonetheless for his outburst in a statement posted to the MSNBC website:

I would like to address the comments I made this past week.

I did not intend to hurt or offend anyone with my choice of words, but clearly I have – and for that I am deeply sorry. Words are important. I understand that, and will choose mine with great care going forward. What I said and did this week, as I was trying to protect my family, was offensive and unacceptable. Behavior like this undermines hard-fought rights that I vigorously support. I understand “Up Late” will be taken off the schedule for tonight and next week.

I want to apologize to my loyal fans and to my colleagues at msnbc – both for my actions and for distracting from their good work. Again, please accept my apology.

Alec Baldwin Wins Stalker Case, Calls Photographer a “Cocksucking Fag”

Earlier today, Genevieve Sabourin was found guilty of stalking and harassing Alec Baldwin and was sentenced to seven months in prison. Baldwin celebrated the news in the most Alec Baldwin-way possible: by calling a photographer a "cocksucking fag."

According to TMZ, the incident occurred outside of Baldwin's Manhattan apartment, just hours after the ruling. "Get away from my wife and my baby," a clearly agitated Baldwin can be heard telling one photographer. "What fucking language do want that in?"

As Baldwin walks towards his car, another photographer follows. "Get away from my kid with your camera or you know what's going to happen to you. Come on!" Baldwin shouts at that photographer, before walking away and mumbling, "cocksucking fag."

Yesterday, Baldwin testified against Sabourin in what turned out to be a bizarre trial that included crying, repeated heckling, and the alleged betrayal of one of Baldwin's close friends.

UPDATE: Alec Baldwin denies saying "fag."

Uh huh. Even if that is somehow true, "acoustic analysis" is unlikely to explain Baldwin's long history of homophobic slurs.
