According to reports, the mayor of Bell Gardens, CA was shot and killed by his wife Tuesday.

A Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesperson told reporters that Mayor Daniel Crespo and his wife, Levette Crespo, were having a dispute that "became physical" in their bedroom on Tuesday afternoon.

"Early reports are that their son, Daniel Jr., 19, tried to intervene in the argument," Lt. Steve Jauch of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. "Early information we have is that a struggled ensued between Daniel Sr. and Daniel Jr. Ultimately, the wife, Levette, produced a firearm and shot her husband multiple times."

The mayor died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Officials say they've interviewed the Crespo's son and that Levette is currently in police custody.

After interviewing Lyvette Crespo, Sheriff's homicide detectives "determined that no arrests will be made at this time," the department said in a statement late Tuesday. "The facts of the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office who will determine if criminal charges will be filed."
