Political Reporter, Gawker

New York

About the Company

The Gawker Media Group is the publisher of some of the web's best-loved brands and communities, including the eponymous Gawker and gadget sensation Gizmodo as well as Deadspin, Kotaku, Jalopnik, Lifehacker, and Jezebel. Founded in 2002, Gawker Media now reaches over 100 million people around the world each month.

Gawker Media is always looking for sharp, fearless, curious, and fun aspiring writers, editors, and reporters who are interested in anything and everything. If you have thick skin, strong opinions, good jokes, and a talent for finding and telling great stories, this is the job for you.

Things You Should Have/Be

A fast, hungry reporter with a distinctive point of view and a strong voice. Candidates should be brave and capable enough to take on strange or unusual assignments (and creative enough to come up with their own strange or unusual assignments). Sources--or the ability to develop them--in the political world is a definite plus. Skill with public records requests and searches is similarly helpful.

The beat will be politics broadly defined, and the ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing a quick (but smart) campaign update and a longer report from the trail.

This is a full time position at Gawker Media's NYC Headquarters with full benefits, including everything from unlimited time off, fully paid medical insurance to free meals provided weekly.
