About the Role
Gawker Media is looking for an Audience Development Strategist to join the Studio@Gawker team. Studio@Gawker is our in-house creative shop — producers, writers, designers, strategists, and technologists who invent, inspire, and create original ideas with our brand partners. We transform these original ideas into tangible, authentic experiences from start to finish, production to promotion. Think video series, infographics, livecasted shows, social media challenges, events, and beyond – with a uniquely Gawker touch.
The Audience Development Strategist will be responsible for growing traffic and video views of our branded content, as well as increasing engagement. The ideal candidate has strong writing & analytic skills, experience working in digital marketing (preferably in a similar role with a digital publisher), and expert understanding of content & social media marketing.
Responsibilities
- Developing and executing strategies around organic and paid content distribution.
- Identifying underutilized areas of the Kinja platform where we can promote great branded content.
- Developing deals and maintaining relationships with social and digital influencers, publishers, partners, and platforms to drive additional content distribution.
- Analyzing and optimizing branded content performance.
- Exploring and implementing strategic content distribution partnerships.
- Working closely with all teams within Studio@Gawker, Business Development, and Ad Operations to optimize branded content distribution.
- Developing and presenting reports on branded content performance and audience growth.
Qualifications

3+ years of digital marketing experience.

Proven track record driving traffic and building audiences via owned, earned, paid media, and partnerships.

Passion for Gawker Media and content marketing.

Hands-on experience with ad platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google Adsense.

In-depth knowledge of the media landscape, Gawker Media’s competitive position among other digital publishers, and familiarity with emerging platforms.

Uncanny attention to detail and quality, and a burning need to right anything off-kilter or askew.

Unrivaled time management skills and the ability to jump between projects and tasks with ease.

Knack for creative problem-solving.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently or with a team of diverse voices – sellers, creatives, editors, technologists, and clients – in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office or iWork and Google Docs.

Bachelor's degree required.
