Product Manager
Budapest
About the Company
The Gawker Media Group gets the real story - that was our founding mission and we've remained unwavering in our dedication to it since 2002. Today, we’re one of the largest independently owned and operated digital media companies in the world.
We publish some of the web's best-loved brands that attract over 100 million global monthly readers, including the eponymous Gawker and gadget sensation Gizmodo as well as Deadspin, Kotaku, Jalopnik, Lifehacker, and Jezebel. From deep, investigative journalism to poignant perspectives on cultural trends to service-y stories helping you live life better, our writers share what’s really happening in a refreshingly candid and addicting way.
Kinja, our proprietary publishing and discussion platform, powers our owned-and-operated editorial brands, a number of passionate independent bloggers and the incredibly active communities that form around them. Kinja is designed to enable anyone – readers, writers, brands – to create and discover the real stories that matter to them. And unlike most content management systems, our platform is available for anyone on the web to use for free.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Manager to join the passionate team building Kinja.
As an essential member of our product team, you’ll work closely with engineering and design – along with several other teams from across the company – to create innovative storytelling, discussion and revenue products for a wide range of platforms and devices.
To succeed, you need to be confident working at the intersection of a consumer-facing platform and the needs of a thriving media business. You will be dedicated to creating the best experience for all of our users: our in-house editorial team, independent bloggers, advertisers, and the devoted readers and communities that span all blogs on Kinja.

- Consistently and clearly communicate product priorities, project status and impact to stakeholders both internal and external to Gawker Media.
- Ability to work across a variety of strategic areas of focus ranging from driving revenue innovation to exploring Gawker Media’s first public native iOS/Android offering.
Things You Should Have/Be:
- Passion for storytelling on the web and the platforms that are changing the way we have conversations, including Gawker Media sites and Kinja
- Uncanny attention to detail and quality, and a burning need to aright anything off-kilter or askew

- Ability to break complex matters down into simple, actionable steps that empower teams and drive progress.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Unrivaled time management skills and the ability to jump between projects and tasks with ease
- Experience with and enthusiasm to work with distributed teams across our Budapest and New York offices.
